DC-BASED WEB DEVELOPER & ARCHITECT
Thinking about relocating to the DC metro area? We are looking for a technology guru who possesses the communication skills, market savvy, and passion to work hand-in-hand with an innovative start up business. Do you have experience in building highly scalable applications for the Web on an open source platform, particularly J2EE and JBoss, PHP, or Ruby on Rails? JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Act as a technical visionary, working closely with the business team to frame out products from start to finish
* Understand the business requirements, translate them into design and implementation approaches, and rapidly drive convergence towards the best solution
* Engineer the full product lifecycle, from concepts, design through to maintenance, managing prioritization and trade-offs across functional domains
* Hands-on coding: Develop and maintain high quality code base, consistently delivering challenging, stable, and maintainable projects on schedule
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* BS in Computer Science or Engineering
* Demonstrable experience using open source tools, frameworks, and applications
* Strong DB and SQL skills especially with MySQL
* Experience building back-end for consumer websites
* Self starter/high energy, deadline-driven, dependable, and can deliver results with aggressive deadlines
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience or strong interest in working in various social media and mobile APIs, such as Facebook and iPhone
* Strong knowledge and keen interest in open source technologies
* Ability to find, adapt, and build upon the existing work of others in the open source community
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Fast learner - can quickly come up to speed with different technologies and develop prototypes to prove new concepts
* Excellent debugging and testing skills
* Strong analytical, performance, systems, and architecture skills
* Experience in social networking frameworks and APIs, particularly the Facebook connect API
* Track record in mentoring junior engineers
* Knowledge of production support activities
* Experience with operating system internals, server architectures, and hosting options
